While in class at Hope Haven, Lyza enjoys drawing, shading, and singing. Outside the classroom, Lyza can be seen playing with friends on the swings. She loves cats. Lyza lives with her mom and an older brother who attends a nearby public school. Lyza has another brother who lives with his grandmother because Lyza's mother does not have the financial means to care for three children. Lyza's dad is a Rwandan soldier.  His whereabouts have been unknown since he reported for duty 2 years ago. Her mother serves at  Hope Haven as a way of paying school fees. She also sells vegetables in the village to help provide for her family.
