Rugira Joel is a happy and sharp boy. While in class, Joel enjoys learning literacy and coloring. Outside the classroom, Joel can be seen playing with a soccer ball or racing with friends. His favorite color is blue, and he loves elephants. Joel comes from a family of parents and two older sisters, Rugira Asoumpta and Mbabazi Gisele, who also attend Hope Haven. Joel comes from a poor family  His dad is a night security guard in the community, while his mother is a housewife.  His mother also serves in the Hope Haven farming fields as an alternative way of paying school fees. The family owns the simple mud house in which they live.
