Gislain is a humble and clever boy. While in class, Gislain enjoys math, drawing and coloring. Outside the classroom, Gislain can be seen playing with a ball with his friends. His favorite color is red, and a dog is his favorite animal. Gislain comes from a poor family, and lives with both parents and one older sibling. Neither of his parents have a job, they do any labor work that needs physical energy and no specific skills. This is the only way how they can get a wage to buy food any other basic family needs. they live in a village close to the school where they rent a small muddy house.  His mother comes to school to serve as a way of paying off school fees.
